About
My Profile:
Hi! My name is Yasamin. I am a high school senior in Forsyth County, which is in Metro Atlanta. I love math and learning about new places, which is why I would like to someday be a city planner. I think that it is super important to be involved in your local government, and I plan to be a big part of mine! |

My Mentorship:
I am currently mentoring with the City of Alpharetta's Community Development and Zoning department. My mentor is Michael Woodman, the Senior Planner for the city, but I get the opportunity to shadow the other members of the department as well. At my mentorship I sit in on meetings with developers, residents of Alpharetta, and other city employees. I am currently helping with a number of relevant projects in the city. I really enjoy my mentorship because the staff is always trying to make sure I am involved and aware of what is going on. I also try to attend public hearings, city council meetings, and planning commission meetings.
My future:
I will be attending the Georgia Institute of Technology starting Fall 2018. I am so fortunate to have this mentorship where I can get an idea of my future career before I even begin my higher education. My mentorship has been a really big help in showing me "what they don't teach you in college" and determining what classes I should take to be the best and most well rounded planner I can be.
